Southeast Director’s Report
Greetings:
Fall is upon us and Thanksgiving is right around the corner. My best wishes to all for a safe and happy Thanksgiving with your friends, family and all those special cattle dogs in your life.
Unfortunately I missed the ACDCA, Inc. Regional Specialty in NC. As luck would have it, the girl I entered pulled a toenail and was limping to the point she could not be shown. But from what I heard, it was an outstanding regional specialty. Good entries, good dogs/bitches, and good people, a great combination for the Carolina Club’s 1st ACDCA, Inc. Regional Specialty.
The Eucanuba Dog Show is fast approaching. Good luck to all invitees and their owners, I will be rooting for you.
As always, please feel free to send me info of upcoming or recent activity in your part of the Southeast so I can post it in my director’s report for the Quarterly. We all love to hear about conformation wins and accomplishments, herding achievements, agility, obedience and junior activity. Remember, if there is something I can help you with, or something you have questions about, please do not hesitate to contact me. If I can’t help or answer, I’ll point you in the direction of someone who can.
Until next time,
Pam Mansfield

NE Directors Report
Quiet in the NE. 2 people are interested in joining the ACDCA. I have contacted them both and given them applications. One is without sponsors, so I am trying to get her hooked up with somebody close to her to get to know her.
Both Bull Run and NAACDC are quiet. Bull Run is preparing for their supported entry in the spring.

Hi All,
Winter has officially hit the North Central region of the country -- UGH!
Since the specialty I have been busy sending out the 2007-2008
membership pins to those that didn't pick them up at the
specialty. I'm now busy doing followup on those that were returned
for various reasons.
I have recently requested and received a updated membership list in
spreadsheet format and the next project on my to-do list is to start
an email list specifically for ACDCA members in the North Central Region.
The Board of Directors recently approved a supported entry at the
Kalamazoo cluster in May. The supported entry and Sweepstakes will
be on Friday, May 22nd 2009. Put it on your calendar and plan to attend!
Wishing everybody a safe and happy holiday season!
Best,
Katherine Buetow Branson

SW Director Report
November has been very busy for me on other fronts. In late October however, once alerted, I called every overdue member in to encourage renewal. Many did and that was a relief. No serious issues to escalate but retention is always something we should keep an eye on.
I submitted Reports for Quarterly last month with comprehensive schedule of club sponsored events in the next 6 months. Greater LA will be hosting the meet the breed booth at the AKC Eukanuba Championships and Joyce has this handled as in years past.
I am currently analyzing 2010 Specialty budget and will have comments to discuss among the Board before the end of the year.

Re: December Board Letter
I hope all have had the very best Thanksgiving possible. Looking forward to the Christmas Holidays, Cheryl and I wish you and your families the very best during these holidays.
Congratulations. You have participated in the first full month of board activities.
Let’s review our accomplishments:
Most, actually participated in discussions. Some of you voted on actual motions and most opened discussion regarding a supported entry. You have started to discuss openly the next 2 years national budgets. I look forward to full board participation and hopefully we will not see much turmoil.
Thanks go out to Sara for her diligence and hard work. Many thanks go out to Cherish for her constant attention to the details. And your directory is on schedule to go out in the mail soon.
Now, let’s look at what is still needed:
Many of you still need to submit summaries to Cherish.
Those missing include:
NW Director
NC Director
SW Director
SC Director
Vice President
Please if you can possibly get on the calendar schedule and send Cherish a brief summary of you activities monthly so that it can be published with the monthly board letter. Then, indeed we all are kept in the communication loop. This information will be shared with the club thru the members list as well as the website. You participation is a responsibility of the position you hold.
Thanks for your participation, looking forward to your help throughout the New Year.
Respectfully
John L. Kurpas

Vice President Report
I hope that you all had a wonderful and thankful Thanksgiving and enjoyed the time with your family and friends. For the month of November the committees have been doing some work. The Publicity and Promotions committee now has ACDCA logo items for sale. Please contact Dave Campbell at dave@thecowdog.com or visit http://www.cafepress.com/acdclub to see what is available. Check it out they have some really neat stuff available. The Juniors committee has issued revised guidelines to the board. Those are being discussed by the board at this time. All committees are doing well and keeping busy.

Treasurer Report
Here is brief financial overview of October 2008. In December, I will have the much more detailed statements for the first Quarter which ends November 30.
The cash balances at the beginning of October were $22,069.09 in checking, $16, 970.59 in the specialty account, $5,456.45 in paypal and $14,402.56 in the money market account for a total of $58,898.69. The cash balances increased $13,322.59 over the month. This increase came from membership and quarterly renewals of $12,115, specialty related income of $7,295.61, specialty expenses of $5,199.65, quarterly expenses of $681.30, bank fees and paypal charges of $209.67 and interest income of $2.60. The ending balances for October 2008 were $40,440.00 in checking, $11,770.94 in the specialty account, $5,605.18 in paypal and $14,405.16 in the money market account for a total of $72,221.28.
Now near the end of November, the membership renewals are all accounted for and the specialty is winding down. I believe that the only remaining big item from the specialty will be the cost of the DVDs. In the next couple of months, the board should consider our donations for this year.

Motion 1: The Juniors Committee is to be suspended as of December 31, 2008. The Junior Achievement Awards for 2008 will be awarded as per the point schedules in the current Guidelines. For 2009 and beyond, the Awards Committee will take over the Junior Achievement Awards and draft new awards guidelines that will be approved by the membership. Explanation: In 2008, the Juniors Committee engaged in private fundraising activities using the name and website of the ACDCA. This behavior is completely unacceptable to the board. The Juniors Committee was a special committee started several years ago to promote the participation of juniors. This goal remains important to the board and membership input on how to continue to involve and support junior members will be solicited.

Motion 2: The Juniors Committee /Awards Committee, or whoever is administering the 2008 Junior Achievement Awards program, is directed to award points to any junior submitting required documentation by February 1, 2009 for activities conducted during 2008 regardless of whether an "application" was received prior to the date of the activities.

December
Pam Mansfield makes a motion to the Board that once monthly, prior to being voted upon, the secretary sends all membership applicant names, address, phone numbers, club interests, sponsors, etc., to the ACDCA Membership List and the ACDCA Web-Site to allow the membership an opportunity to make comments or recommendations, if any, to their regional director pertaining to persons applying for membership to the ACDCA.
