Treasurers Report
Cash balance at the beginning of November totals $72,221.28.
During November, we received $5,076 in membership-quarterly receipts, $2.36 interest income, and $8,152.89 in Specialty income.  We paid out $251.05 in bank and paypal fees, $25 for AKC dues, $60.50 committee expenses, $114.86 awards, and $2,000 directory expenses, $809.82 specialty expenses for 2008 and $200 specialty expenses for 2009.
Cash balance at the end of November totals $81,991.30.
In December we paid the last large 2008 specialty expense.  There still a few loose ends from the 2008 specialty relating to DVD and trophy sales.
I am focusing my efforts on the nonprofit tax return due Jan 15.

NE Director’s Report
Things are relatively quiet here in the North East.  I think that everyone has been ice and snow bound, so they can't get into too much trouble.  Neither the North Atlantic ACD Club, nor Bull Run have had anything new to report to me.
I contacted the folks from Maine that were interested in joining the ACDCA.  I also forwarded her the application.  I gave her info on the NAACDC and some shows that will be in her area so that she can meet potential sponsors.  I also asked some of the Maine ACD folks that I know to contact her to see if they would be willing to sponsor her after getting to know her a bit.

I was just sent an email from a small private all breed rescue in Pa. that is getting 19 ACDs this coming weekend.  I have asked for details so that I can get the contact info to the ACDRI and the ACDRA (local rescue group).  Waiting for a reply.

That's about it.

Cheers.

Re: January Board Letter

This last month with a concentrated 10 days sure has been hectic.

This month’s business has been delayed due to the current juniors motions that were unanimously approved.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
On our agenda for January are the following items:
1)       Quarterly photo contest- a motion to accept is in order
2)       Deb Casey Texas Club seminar Proposal- a motion to accept is in order
The junior’s committee issue is now completed with the mailing of termination letters both in email as well as certified postal delivery.

We will need to propose somebody to administer the juniors program. Hopefully Serenity will have something for you perusal very soon.

I have not seen any monthly committee reports. Serenity please follow up with your remaining committees to report a summary of their activity each month.

All,

As the middle of Jan is approaching, I take keyboard in hand to type this update!
Texas just had one of the Big ones, first weekend in Jan.  It was wonderful to read the numbers for Cattle Dogs, I had to blink TWICE, was it real???  (13-12-3-3) Amazing, Wow, wish I could have been there.
A meeting was held Sat. evening, Deb and Crew discussed all things for the betterment of the 2009 Specialty.
All in all things are somewhat quiet, but don't worry we'll cause a ruckus soon!

New motions passed:
Motion 1: The Juniors Committee is to be suspended as of December 31, 2008. The Junior Achievement Awards for 2008 will be awarded as per the point schedules in the current Guidelines. For 2009 and beyond, the Awards Committee will take over the Junior Achievement Awards and draft new awards guidelines that will be approved by the membership. Explanation: In 2008, the Juniors Committee engaged in private fundraising activities using the name and website of the ACDCA. This behavior is completely unacceptable to the board. The Juniors Committee was a special committee started several years ago to promote the participation of juniors. This goal remains important to the board and membership input on how to continue to involve and support junior members will be solicited.

Presidents Report - February 1, 2009
Dear Board of directors:

Feb Board Letter

Hopefully all are starting to thaw from one heck of a winter blast. Our temps this weekend went into the 50's. This allowed my dog and I to attend a herding clinic in the area.

Some of you may not be aware, but the ACDCA has received a complaint from an ex member of the juniors committee. It was sent to Cherish Girard as secretary. I instructed her to send on to grievance chair Patti Salladay. If it warrants the boards attention and if she implements a true grievance (she claimed not to know who to complain to, nor that money was needed to issue a complaint) we will forward on to each board member.

Cherish is currently gathering all the documents at the request of Lisa Tucker. I made contact with her asking for a clarification regarding possible threatening comments to the members list and suddenly she stops posting to it. Soon as Cherish has all the documents she will make them available to all.

This month only one motion I am aware of by Rose Jurain.
Motion:

I move that the Bull Run Australian Cattle Dog club be granted approval by the ACDCA to hold two days of herding trials, with two separate event numbers, under the ACDCA's AKC auspices.  The dates of the two trials are June 27th and June 28th 2009.

Treasurer Report
The first quarter financial statements dated 11/30/08 for FYE 8/31/09 are attached.
At the end of December 2008, the bank balances totaled $80,116.22 (regular checking $46,305.40, specialty $10,722.12, Paypal $8,678.98, and Money Market $14,409.72).  During December we had income from membership/quarterly of $2,415, interest income of $2.20, awards expense of $39, AKC delegate expense of $822.49, Secretary expense of $69.01 and Paypal charges of $34.90.  The net specialty expenses were $3,276.61.
The 2008 specialty income to date is $5,854.71.  The final figure should be higher because of adjustment for the ribbon inventory purchased for 2009, a pending payment for trophies from the Gold Coast club, and post specialty DVD sales.  The final figure should be lower because the total to date contains the proceeds of the Kelly Rae quilt fundraiser for the Quarterly.

Vice President Report
December has been a busy month for all of us.  I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Years.  For the month of December, there were motions brought before the board regarding the Juniors Committee.  With those motions approved, the Juniors Committee was terminated as of December 31, 2008.  The board has now put together an Advisory Team for the Juniors Program that will be working under the Awards Committee.  At this time this team will be working on all the points for 2008 and making sure that all ACDCA junior members will get all of their points for that year.  They will also be working on revising the guidelines for the rest of this year and then developing new permanent guidelines to put before the membership to be approved at the 2008 annual meeting.  This team is also going to be tabulating the points for 2009 starting with January 1st.  So ACDCA Juniors and parents of these juniors please be keeping up with these and we will keep you posted on where to be sending those.

Please see monthly committee reports listed below.

Sincerely,
Serenity Littlefield
ACDCA Vice President

Greetings,
Winter is here and the Southeast has not been spared the freezing temperatures.  Living in Florida you expect mild winters because our summers can be so brutal.  Well, this year has shown me what the northern states have to endure.  Burrrrrrrrr!
An update this week is that a Juniors Advisory Team has been formed to continue with the juniors program.  Thank you Suzi Ironmonger, Rita Favearu, Steve Ware, and Deb Mintzer for volunteering.
I was pleased and honored to attend the first Mid-Florida ACD Fanciers Regional Specialty in Brooksville on January 18, 2009.  It was held on the last day of the ever-popular Florida Winter Circuit, which commenced this year on January 2nd and ran through the 18th.

I would again like to say congratulations to all the winners and exhibitors. Everyone worked so hard and did such a great job that I can’t wait for Mid-Florida’s next Regional.  Thank you all so much for such a fun time.

NC Director Report

I have set up a Yahoo email list specifically for members in the North Central region. We are having difficulties getting some individuals subscribed but will press on with the tenacity typical of our breed to get all those in the region signed up.

Following the recent Board action regarding the juniors committee I sent an email out to all members of my region. I received numerous responses (thank you all) and now have an accounting of kids in my
area for the newly formed Junior Advisory Team. This vital information will be passed along to the team.

There are lots of whispers going around about the supported entry in Michigan coming up in May. I certainly hope that all who plan to come are going to make the trip!

Respectfully submitted,
Katherine Buetow Branson

NW Director Report

I have set up a yahoo group email list for Northwest regional members.  If you missed my notice and invite to this group for NW members of the ACDCA and would like an invite please let me know, so far a little over half the members in our region have joined.  It will be a fairly quite list, but the place that I will be asking questions of you, and where people in this region can bring up ideas, and have discussions about club business.
Cascade ACD Club just finished their regional specialty, in spite of lower than normal entries the show was a big success.
