Re: Revised June Board Letter
On our agenda for June are the following items:
One motion submitted at this time.
June Motion #1:
Submitted by Eric Sheets:
Per the JAT report/recommendation and still in the interest of fairness, I move we rescind the motion (#2 from the January 2009 summary: Motion 2: The Juniors Committee /Awards Committee, or whoever is administering the 2008 Junior Achievement Awards program, is directed to award points to any junior submitting required documentation by February 1, 2009 for activities conducted during 2008 regardless of whether an "application" was received prior to the date of the activities.) granting points regardless of application received prior to date of activities.
Two Items remain that should be on our agenda:
The BOD is considering current mailing cost for the Quarterly.
Submitted Bylaws revision from Bylaws committee:
Please review the attached revision of the by-laws (sent under separate cover from Patti Salliday) Thanks to Joyce – the majority of the changes have been corrected to the verbiage recommended by an attorney. These have to do with mutual to public status.
The other changes are juniors age over 10, under 18.
I will wait to hear from the board on any other changes and when to proceed submitting to AKC. The BOD recommended additional verbiage changes to be returned to Bylaws committee. Fees letter received from CA attorney (signed and returned).
Respectfully
John L. Kurpas
ACDCA President 2008-2009

VP Report
Summer is now upon us and has brought dry air and scorching heat for us here in the south. We are now into 2 months with no rain and the temps hitting as high as 105 degrees in some places. The dogs don’t even want to go outside. Heck can you blame them. When they do, they spend their time soaking in the stock tanks and pools. Not much going on with the committees for now. I’m sure everyone is trying to stay cool and enjoy their summer and vacations. If you have any questions for any of the following committees, please contact them. They will be glad to help you out.
Sincerely,
Serenity Littlefield
ACDCA Vice President 2008-09
AKC Delegate
As there were no motions to vote on and no new committee business I did not attend the June Delegate's meeting.

2010 ACDCA Specialty Update
As I reported last month, the once available Dixon Fairground site became unavailable last month. To recover from this set back, GCACDC is focusing on and pursuing two alternative sites: the Solano County Fairgrounds in Vallejo and the Yolo County Fairgrounds in Woodland .
At last report, GCACDC has a verbal confirmation that the Yolo fairgrounds are available during our needed dates. GCACDC is currently awaiting the pricing and dimensions of the main lawn. This would be the largest expense and the most crucial piece of their property, so they can not put a budget together without these numbers. The Yolo Fairgrounds verbally stated they can beat Dixon 's rates for our rental pricing. GCACDC has had both Robyn and Karen separately tour the Yolo Fairgrounds and the site has been deemed suitable for our needs. There is plenty of shade options and the RV parking is onsite. The hotel considerations were 10 minutes away when clocked and the herding facility is still local as well.
The Solano County fairgrounds has communicated via email with GCACDC that their site has availability during our needed dates. They asked to wait until after the Solano County Fair to discuss the details as they are busy with the fair at this time. Solano Fairgrounds want to meet with GCACDC in August to further discuss options. The last communication to date with Solano Fairgrounds was a request by GCACDC’s Robyn to have a quick, non-detailed Letter of Intent agreement, to confirm availability and a meeting date sent for Monday August 3, 2009. Herding would be a bit further down the road than Yolo, but this may be offset by the closer proximity to San Francisco and wine country…
ACDCGLA is making plans for the B course plus an A course trial on ducks (to up entries) for the Fall. All is going according to plans and more details are coming. Please consider entering this event if you can.
In addition, ACDCGLA has committed to supporting the meet the ACD breed booth, regional specialty and sweepstakes at the 125th anniversary of the AKC and their Championship in December 2010 Long Beach CA . This promises to be quite the event and I hope everyone that can travel to this, does attend. Entry will be open as opposed to invitation only in the past, making plans easier and it’s magnitude that much bigger!

Hello to all:
The Southeast is in the midst of a sizzling summer with not much of a cool down in sight. Remember those heat precautions for yourself, your ACDs, and other furry friends during these triple digit temperatures.
If you haven’t already voted, please do. Your vote does matter.
I wish everyone a safe and fun filled summer.
Until next time,
